Art Institute of Chicago Weddings

The Art Institute of Chicago is one of the city’s most unique venues for hosting weddings. With both modern and classical architecture as well as priceless works of art, you’ll be providing your guests with a truly unique experience. Event spaces range from small to large so you’ll find options for intimate gatherings or large celebrations. The Art Institute is also surrounded by beautiful gardens and the heart of downtown Chicago, making it perfect for amazing photos.

The Art Institute of Chicago doesn’t provide wedding pricing publicly. For detailed pricing information you will have to contact the Art Institute directly.

Event Spaces

There are 15 different event spaces to choose from which vary in guest capacity and style. Their largest space, Griffin Court, can accommodate up to 500 seated guests. More intimate spaces such as the Bluhm Family Terrace can accommodate up 75 guests. You can find more details about each of the spaces below

Woman’s board grand staircase

Capacity: 40 seated / 225 standing
Located in the Michigan Avenue Building just of the main lobby, the elegant polished marble Grand Staircase dates back to 1910. The staircase sits within an open atrium, bathed in sunlight and surround by libraries and historic Chicago architecture.

Bluhm Family Terrace

Capacity: 75 seated / 100 standing
Located on the upper floor of the Modern Wing, the Bluhm Family Terrace is an outdoor space with stunning views of the Chicago skyline. Adjacent to the Terzo Piano, you can combine these two spaces for more room and an indoor/outdoor combination for your wedding reception.

Griffin Court

Capacity: 500 seated / 900 standing
Also located in the museum’s Modern Wing, Griffin Court in a modern and bright event space. This large expansive space is perfect for large celebrations and one of the most popular options. Griffin Court can also be paired with the Pritzker Garden to add a bit of outdoors and green space to your wedding.

Nichols board of trustees suite

Capacity: 120 seated / 120 standing
An intimate space with floor to ceiling views of Millennium Park and the Chicago skyline. If you’re looking for a modern, elegance space for your wedding, then this a great space to consider.

Pritzker Garden

Capacity: 150 seated / 400 standing
This space consists of an outdoor terrace and garden. The Art Institute recommends combining this space with the adjacent Griffin Court to compliment as an indoor space for your wedding guests.
