I was so excited to kick off 2019 by getting the honor of photographing Kate and Alan’s wedding at Cafe Brauer in Chicago. I’ve been to the Lincoln Park Zoo many times over the years, so I’ve been aware of the venue for some time. However, this was the first time I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Cafe Brauer itself.
The day itself was typical Chicago spring weather, a lot of grey, slightly rainy, with a bit of wind. That didn’t stop any of us from having an amazing wedding day experience though. Despite the slightly dreary weather, spirits were high and there was plenty of excitement and anticipation all around.
We started the day with getting ready at Hotel Lincoln, just across the street from Cafe Brauer and the Lincoln Park Zoo. Kate and Alan both wanted to maximize the use of the hotel space so we opted to do group photos at the street and rooftop bars. The guys finished getting ready at the J. Parker Rooftop bar while the girls finished up with some group photos at the Kennison.
Once we wrapped up getting ready we made our way over to Cafe Brauer to prep for the ceremony. Kate and Alan’s ceremony was super romantic and held in the South Loggia surrounded by friends and family. Following the ceremony guest made their way to the North Loggia for cocktail hour.
The wedding reception was held in the Great Hall at Cafe Brauer. Their reception was decorated with a theme of vintage elegance that fit so perfectly with the architecture and design of Cafe Brauer. Kate at Chicago Vintage Weddings really did an amazing job with the design and layout. Despite the rain, we managed to sneak out during the reception to get a few amazing photos of just Kate and Alan outside under the loggia.
Kate and Alan’s wedding was a perfect example of what makes Cafe Brauer such an amazing Chicago venue.
