How They Met
Katie and Paul first met 30,000 feet up in the air when they shared seats next to each other on the same flight. During their flight they hit it off and kept in touch. Fast forward a couple of years later and Paul proposed to Katie by spelling out “Marry Me” in lights and Katie of course said Yes!
Getting Ready
Katie and Paul’s wedding day began with getting ready at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago with their bridal party and family. Katie opted to have a first look with her dad which was resulted in a beautiful and emotional moment for both. She also shared a sweet moment with her mom before heading out for the ceremony.
The Ceremony
Their ceremony took place at St Jamel Chapel which was just a short drive from their hotel. This was also where Katie’s father went to school and so the church has history within the family. St James chapel also just so happens to be an absolutely stunning piece of architecture. Outside and In, St. James Chapel is a gorgeous backdrop for any wedding.
Reception
After the ceremony we wrapped up family photos at the church and then made our way out for photos. Because it was a winter wedding it was already dark by the time we left the church. We opted to make our way across the street and utilize the Water Tower Place for a quick portrait session before wedding to the venue. The reception itself was held at City Hall Events, a relatively new venue in Chicago. The venue was styled in 1920’s art deco with some of the most perfect table decorations and centerpieces I’ve ever seen. Dinner, speeches, and first dances followed before the dance floor opened and everyone rocked out to their live band, Ben Benavente and The Union Band.
