Chevy Chase Country Club Weddings

About the venue

Chevy Chase Country Club is located in the north suburbs of Chicago in Wheeling, Illinois. It’s located about 20 minutes north of O’hare airport and about 45 minutes north of downtown Chicago. With a number of great hotels nearby, it’s a great option for those with family coming in from out of town for your wedding.

The venue was originally constructed back in 1927 and originally known as Columbian Gardens. A next door subdivision retains the name today. Opened during the height of prohibition, it along with many establishments along Milwaukee Avenue at the time had connections with the famous Al Capone to provide beverages to satisfy thirsty patrons.

In the 1930’s the name of the club was changed to Bon Air, and then again in 1949 when the Chevy Chase name arrived. During the 1970’s the property came under control of the Wheeling Park District where it continued to serve as both a golf club and events venue. In 2016 and 2017 the venue was renovated inside and out, preserving a bit of its history while also modernizing.

Spaces at Chevy Chase Country Club

Chevy Chase Country Club is divided into two main events spaces. Any given day there may be two events or weddings that can take place separately and simultaneously.

THE GRAND BALLROOM

The slightly larger of the two event spaces is the Grand Ballroom. This space has a modern, renovated entryway and lounge area, a large getting ready bridal suite upstairs, and a large classically styled ballroom and bar area. The ballroom proper has a large dance floor and a dedicated stage perfect for live bands and DJ’s to setup.

Just outside the Grand Ballroom is a large outdoor terrace and patio which is perfect for outdoor ceremonies or as a space for guests to relax and mingle throughout the evening. From the terrace you can access the rear of the building and golf course where you can find beautiful opportunities for photos.

THE DEVONSHIRE ROOM

The second main event space is the Devonshire Room. It also has a large entry and lounge area with a fireplace and bar, perfect for hosting guests as they enter and mingle during cocktail hour. Upstairs you’ll find a private bridal suite perfect for getting ready or as a relaxing hideaway before being introduced into the reception.

The reception space is the recently renovated Devonshire Room which is large, modern, and contemporary with a bit of classic elegance. The entire space has wood floors with the dancing space center stage. You’ll find large, oversized windows stretching two whole walls filling the space with beautiful, natural light during sunset. Patio areas just outside the Devonshire Room provide a relaxing space for guests to relax and mingle throughout the night.

The Devonshire can also double as a ceremony space in the event of rain or cold weather. Alternatively, outdoor ceremonies can be held a short walk from the building and right on the green. Shaded by large trees and slightly elevated this is a beautiful location for late afternoon ceremonies and results in gorgeous images.

Chevy Chase Country club Wedding cost

Chevy Chase Country Club offers a number of custom options when planning your wedding including an All Inclusive Package option. Their all inclusive options includes a premium open bar for four hours, passed hors d’oeuvres, champagne toast, three course dinner, dinner wine service, wedding cake, and linens. A large list of additional options are also available to customize your experience.

A deposit of $2,000 is required during booking to secure your date. There’s also a required $1,000 security deposit that’s reimbursed after the wedding (as long as there are no damages).
